What Rock Have I Been Living Under?

This morning I had (yet another) Kanga moment. You know, those moments when you suddenly realize something that everyone else knew, but somehow you just didn't get the memo on? Like that Kanga and Roo (from Winny the Pooh) make the word kangaroo?

My latest moment: Iggy Pop was not part of the Sex Pistols. In fact, he isn't even British. Why the hell did I think he was part of them? I know the names Sid Vicious and Johnny Rotten. Why did I never put together that THEY were the Sex Pistols?

I'm feeling very, very dumb. And no matter how much I like The Clash, or walk around singing Anarchy in the UK, this forever bans me from thinking that I even remotely understood the Punk movement.

I also fear that I'll lose my indie/alternative British songs fangirl badge. Hopefully my knowledge and love of Morrissey, The Smiths, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Cure, et al will let me hold on to that.

"You're not like other folks, here, in the trailor park"

Most zombies want brains. Lots and lots of brains.

This zombie wants nap. Lots and lots of nap. Mmmmm.... nap.

Success By Design

The MX East conference will blaze a trail this October 21-23 into the new frontier of innovation and design management. MX East takes a strategic look at the business value of design, and how design drives success in product development and the service industries. The loyalty and trust of today’s consumer is best earned when they remember their experience with a product or service as not only positive but potentially life-changing or empowering; the businesses that respond to this consumer demand are the ones that will succeed.

Read the entire program at http://adaptivepath.com/events/2007/oct.

Ideally suited for design, product, and creative managers, MX East bridges the gap between conferences that address the big vision of design and strategy, and conferences that focus on form-making and methods.

Ground Fighter Just Doesn't Sound As Good As Street Fighter

Today I picked a fight with the ground, again. Luckily, this time did not involve any blood or stitches. I was getting out of the elevator at the AP UX Week hotel and the floor of the elevator hadn't quite lined up with the floor. I stepped out of the elevator, tripped on the edge of the floor and fell face first onto the ground.

Luckily I didn't hit my face this time, but I did manage to fuck up my knees pretty good. I've been icing and Advil-ing all the rest of the day. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not, but I seem to have hit the "good knee" harder than the "bad knee." Pretty much any movement or position is painful.

I'm not looking forward to the cramped plane ride home tomorrow. At least I have my handy-dandy reusable ice pack.
